Thomas and Simon Ross
Identical goals in cup final joy for the Ross family
Sport sometimes throws up the most amazing stories and the headquarters of Devon FA set the scene for a tale of family success.
In the midst of the cup final season at Coach Road, the father and son duo of Simon and Thomas Ross were given the rare opportunity to compete for a trophy on the same day at the same venue.
The finals in question were the U14s Technical Surfaces Youth County Cup Final and the A&S paving Devon Intermediate County Cup Final.
The Ross family combo both managed to win their County Cups on the same day, both scoring identical goals, playing in the same shirt number 10, a feat possibly never achieved before.
Young Thomas was playing for Buckland Athletic, who beat WBB 2-0 in the U14s Youth Cup, scoring both goals on the way to being awarded man of the match for his outstanding performance on the field.
In the following game, Simon Ross won his County game with Watcombe Wanderers Reserves, 3-2 against Railway FC in an absolutely showstopper of a game, again bagging himself a goal identical to his sons.
Congratulations to the Ross family, and to Buckland Juniors and Watcombe Wanderers.
