Gulls to play Buckland and Exeter
Torquay United have lined up their first two friendly fixtures of the pre-season campaign with Buckland Athletic and Exeter City starting the list for a packed summer at Plainmoor.
The arrival of the Bryn Consortium as new owners, alongside the appointments of Paul Wotton as manager and Neil Warnock as football advisor, has generated huge excitement for the Yellow Army, who now have two fixtures to place in the summer diary.
The Gulls will travel to play Buckland Athletic at their Homers Heath ground in Newton Abbot on Friday, July 12, with a 7.30pm kick-off, and it is guaranteed to be a terrific occasion for fans of both clubs.
Buckland enjoyed a fine campaign in the Western League under young manager Dan Hart, finishing just one place outside the play-offs and all the signs are that the Bucks will be a strong outfit again next season.
United then have a Devon derby with Exeter City scheduled for Tuesday, July 30 at Plainmoor, also a 7.30pm kick-off. The Grecians enjoyed a superb end to last season, comfortably steering themselves away from the relegation zone and another perfect warm up ahead of the new National League South campaign.
