Pickleball Festival
Pickleball Festival at Torquay Tennis Club
Torquay Tennis Club hosted a fantastic Pickleball Festival over the final weekend of April and the fastest growing sport in North America is catching on with just as much enthusiasm in Torbay.
The event was the largest Pickleball Festival in the South West, and the club’s second Festival with 90 players of all standards from Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset taking part.
Festival organiser Ray Armstrong explained the format was for everyone to “mix in” and have fun in an uncompetitive manner.
During the day Peter & Margaret Hunter IPTPA coaches, who have just returned from playing in the US Open, passed on some great tips and advice to those attending. Ray is already putting things in place to arrange their third Festival in November.
The tennis club has created a new membership category, especially for Pickleball and Padel tennis at just £49 a year and offers three indoor social mix in sessions (including one specifically for beginners) and one outdoor social session per week. In addition to these, members can arrange their own indoor or outdoor games during club open hours throughout the week.
