Torquay boxer Amy Woolgar has returned with trainer Gareth Hogg after two excellent wins away from home in Spain and Malta.
Last week’s Spanish trip saw the Seven Hills Boxing Club star outpoint Spanish boxer Marta Ballus Costa over three two-minute rounds after a journey that saw her fly and fight on the same day.
Representing a London team of national champions against a Catalonia select team, she was only one of two female boxers sent to Spain.
After a brief pit stop back home in Torquay, it was off to Malta, where Amy fought for the prestigious WBC regional title at 56kg.
Amy, a 19-year-old South Devon College student, found herself up against local favourite Kaylee Mifsud over four two-minute rounds.
The experienced Kaylee, with only one loss in 15 bouts, was outworked throughout and Amy’s hand was raised in victory to claim the green championship belt - no mean feat when fighting away from home.
