Torquay United's under-18 side dug deep to come from two goals down and beat Mangotsfield United 3-2 to win the SW Counties Youth League Cup at Bridgwater.
And, if they can hit top form in front of goal, they still have a chance to do the league-and-cup double they completed last year.
The young Gulls had to lift themselves after many of their players had suffered the disappointment of losing the English Colleges FA Senior final last midweek.
South Devon College's Pro:Direct Academy were pipped 1-0 by North Wales' Coleg Cambria at Crewe Alexandra's Gresty Road stadium in a tight, high-quality match.
They then found themselves 2-0 down in 20 minutes against Mangotsfield last Saturday.
But a Jayden Gilbert free-kick from just outside the penalty area in the 40th minute galvanised them, and they finished the job in the second half.
Gilbert converted a penalty after Ben Aldous had been brought down in the 56th minute, and 11 minutes later Aldous coolly hit the winner from a left wing move involving Harvey Field and winger Mason Elliott.
"Our fitness and will to win showed through," said coach Ryan Dickson.
United have one league game left - this Saturday away to Cirencester Town (10.30am).
They are three points behind leaders Bridgwater United with a five-goal inferior goal-difference.
But United will be favourites to win and, if they can make a good start, a six-goal victory is not beyond them.
