Art, theatre and coastal adventures planned across the English Riviera this Easter

National Gallery art display, theatre shows and outdoor attractions feature across Torbay this spring

Art, theatre and coastal adventures planned across the English Riviera this Easter

Families visiting South Devon this Easter will find a wide range of events and attractions taking place across the English Riviera.

One of the main highlights is Art on Your Doorstep, a free outdoor exhibition from the National Gallery at Torre Abbey in Torquay. The exhibition features life-sized reproductions of well-known paintings displayed in the abbey grounds and along the route towards Torquay Harbour.

Several National Trust sites in the area will also host seasonal activities. At Greenway, the former home of Agatha Christie near Brixham, visitors can take part in woodland Easter egg hunts overlooking the River Dart.

At Coleton Fishacre, the 1920s country house and garden near Kingswear will host the Festival of Blossom, offering visitors the chance to see spring blooms and explore the coastal gardens.

Other attractions open to visitors include Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves in Torquay and Babbacombe Model Village, which will run an alternative Easter egg trail alongside its illuminated evening displays.

There will also be several shows across the bay during the holiday period. Justin Fletcher will bring Justin Live: Justin Time to the Princess Theatre in Torquay, while Babbacombe Theatre will stage The K-Pop Kingdom. At Brixham Theatre, the Ultimate Bubble Show will feature Guinness World Record holder Ray Bubbles.

Outdoor activities remain a major draw for visitors, with the coastline of the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark offering opportunities for kayaking, coasteering and walks along the South West Coast Path.

Families can also travel on the Dartmouth Steam Railway from Paignton or take part in the Round Robin excursion combining steam train, river boat and open-top bus journeys.

Carolyn Custerson, chief executive of the English Riviera BID Company, said: “Easter on the English Riviera is something genuinely special this year. Whether you’re scrambling along the Geopark coastline, watching the kids hunt for eggs at the National Trust’s historic house of Greenway, or experiencing art from the National Gallery against the backdrop of Torquay Harbour, there is something here for every family whatever the weather.”
