Rowcroft Hospice announces its biggest challenge yet with a Sahara Desert trek

This latest fund-raising mission for Rowcroft Hospice may be a bit of a trek...

Rowcroft is inviting adventure-seekers to join them on a challenge of a lifetime in 2027 by trekking across the Sahara Desert, one of the largest and most breathtaking deserts in the world.

Taking place between March 10 and 15 in 2027, this long-weekend trek offers the chance to take on an extraordinary journey while raising vital funds to support Rowcroft’s end-of-life care for patients and families across South Devon.

The trek will take participants through the ever-changing landscape of the Sahara, culminating at the top of the mighty Chigaga Dunes to watch the sunrise over the desert.

Along the way, trekkers will enjoy sweeping vistas as far as the eye can see, with the volcanic Anti-Atlas Mountains as their backdrop.

Guided by traditional Berbers, participants will also enjoy the delights of Morocco firsthand and be mesmerised by the remoteness and solitude of the desert.

Whether you’re an experienced adventurer or tackling a challenge for the first time, this fully supported trek is open to everyone and offers the chance to push your limits while making a real difference for your local hospice.

"The Sahara Trek is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to challenge yourself, immerse yourself in one of the world’s most iconic landscapes, and make a real difference for families in our community facing life-limiting illnesses,” said Molly Billingsley, Challenges Fundraiser for Rowcroft Hospice.

“We’ll be with you every step of the way, supporting and inspiring you to make the most of this unforgettable adventure. Join Team Rowcroft, push your limits, experience the Sahara - together, we’ll conquer the desert!"

Rowcroft Hospice is hosting an information evening for anyone interested in the trek. It takes place this evening, Thursday, February 5, from 7pm to 9pm at the hospice’s Rainbow House, Ella’s Gardens, Avenue Road, Torquay, TQ2 5LS, giving attendees the chance to explore the full trek itinerary, learn how their participation will support local families, ask questions, meet fellow potential trekkers, and discover fundraising tips and ideas.

Spaces are limited, so those interested in attending the information evening are encouraged to register early.
