Fire breaks out at iconic Dartmoor hotel as emergency services respond

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue confirm that five engines were in attendance at the popular venue near Princetown

Emergency services have been called to the Two Bridges Hotel near Princetown this afternoon following reports of a fire.

The Moorlander first received reports at 3.38pm, after a local resident raised concerns about an incident at the iconic hotel.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service later confirmed that five fire engines were in attendance at the scene.

In an update issued at 4.15pm, a fire service spokesperson said the fire was believed to have started in an electrical cupboard inside the hotel.

The spokesperson said:

“We currently have five pumps in attendance at the Two Bridges Hotel. A fire, believed to have started in an electrical cupboard, has been extinguished and we are currently ventilating the property.”

They confirmed that no one was injured as a result of the incident.

Fire crews remained on site while ventilation work was carried out to clear smoke from the building, however the extent of any damage has not been confirmed.

The Two Bridges Hotel is a popular landmark on Dartmoor and the incident attracted attention from local residents in the Princetown area.

There is no further information at this stage, and the cause of the fire has not yet been formally confirmed.
