Community Matters: A fresh start for 2026 as Torquay wellness group opens doors to local residents

The start of a new year is a powerful time for reflection, renewal, and positive change.

As the first quarter of 2026 unfolds, it offers a wonderful opportunity to focus on personal growth and set meaningful goals for the year ahead. What would you like to achieve?

Perhaps you’d like more energy and vitality, improved fitness, healthier eating habits, better sleep, or stronger mental wellbeing. Maybe your goal is to lose weight, reduce alcohol intake, stop smoking, or simply feel more balanced and connected. Whatever
your aspiration, you don’t have to do it alone.

Many of your neighbours are beginning the year with the same renewed commitment to healthier, more fulfilling lifestyles. Why not join a friendly, welcoming group of local residents and like-minded people, all supporting one another on their wellness
journeys?

In 2025, the Melville Community Smoking Cessation Group helped Torquay residents make lasting changes through peer-to-peer wellness support. Participants reduced or stopped smoking, lost weight (with one resident losing over five stone), became more active, slept better, cut down on alcohol, built friendships, and rediscovered joy.

We are delighted to relaunch our Peer-to-Peer Wellness Hub, starting Monday 12th January 2026, at Mystic Holistic, 4 Lucius Street, Torquay, TQ2 5UN. Sessions run weekly for 12 weeks, from 6:30–7:30 pm (doors open at 6:00 pm), until Monday 30th
March 2026.

Together, we’ll explore a positive, mindset-led approach to health, while enjoying a variety of weekly activities that support your wellbeing. Learn how nutrition, yoga, breathwork, massage, hypnosis, sound baths, essential oils, and gentle movement can enhance our overall health and support smoking cessation.

Online support is also available for those unable to attend in person.

The programme is free, open to all, and refreshments are provided. Funded by Torbay Council, this supportive peer-led group is here to help you build healthier habits and care for your wellbeing.
