Newton Abbot Racecourse prepares for grand finale with October events

Newton Abbot Racecourse is approaching the close of its 2025 race season, with the grand finale taking place at the end of October. Before the curtain falls, there are still some fantastic events for visitors to enjoy.

On Saturday 18 October, racegoers can look forward to an afternoon of thrilling action, with seven races on the card. Gates open at 12.15pm, with the first race underway at 2.15pm. A free shuttle bus will be running from Newton Abbot Station, making it easy for everyone to attend. The fun doesn’t stop when the racing ends, all are welcome to stay and enjoy live music from The Shrine in the Paddock Suite.

Half term brings an extra treat for families with the Halloween Themed Family Fun Day on Wednesday 29 October.

Children are encouraged to arrive in fancy dress for the chance to win a prize, while a host of activities from bouncy castles and face painting to hook-a-duck and pumpkin carving promise plenty of entertainment. Six races are scheduled, with gates opening at 11.25am and the first race at 1.25pm. Tickets are £18 in advance for the Paddock Enclosure (£20 on the day), or £13 for
the Course Enclosure, while children go free — making it an affordable and exciting half-term outing for the whole family.

The Racecourse is also hosting its final Flea Market of the year on Saturday 4 October.

Shoppers can enjoy a morning of bargain hunting across indoor and outdoor stalls, with entry just £1 and free admission for children. With free parking, easy access and the Paddock Café serving hearty breakfasts, light lunches and snacks, it’s the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning. Those wishing to sell are encouraged to book early, with indoor tables at £12.50 (maximum of two), car pitches at £10 and vans at £15. Later in the month, on Saturday 25 October, the ever-popular Antiques Fair returns.

With 45 indoor stalls and up to 25 outdoors, it offers a treasure trove of antiques, vintage pieces and collectables for enthusiasts and casual browsers alike. Early bird entry is £5 from 8.15am, or just £1 from 9am onwards, with children admitted free of charge. The fair runs until 2.30pm, giving visitors ample time to explore before enjoying a well-earned break at the café, where homemade cakes and light meals are always a highlight. Parking is free, making it an accessible and enjoyable day out.
