Man in his 20s dies in Torquay road collision

Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following a fatal collision in Torquay.

Emergency services were called to Torwood Street at about 5.05pm on Sunday 31 August after reports of a crash involving a black Audi Q5, a blue Suzuki SV 650 motorcycle and a grey Ford Ranger.

The motorcycle rider, a man in his 20s from Hampshire, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported.

Both car drivers were uninjured and stopped at the scene.

Following initial enquiries, the driver of the Audi – a man in his 20s from Plymouth – was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team thanked members of the public for their patience while the road was closed.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police via the Devon and Cornwall Police website or by calling 101, quoting log 549 of 31 August 2025.
