Builders unveil new plans for 73 ‘high quality’ homes

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey have taken the wraps off their plans for a homes development on the outskirts of Paignton.

It is preparing for the launch of St Mary View, its latest development of high quality homes, in Collaton St Mary later this year.

St Mary View is due to launch in December and will comprise 73 three, four and five-bedroom homes off Kirkham Fold, Totnes Road. Taylor Wimpey underwent a detailed design process in order to come up with a proposal that reflected the character of the surrounding area. 

The builders say St Mary View has been laid out to maximise views of the parish church of St Mary the Virgin, which inspired its name. The design aims to give the feel of a small rural settlement rather than an urban suburb, and is split into a number of linked character areas to achieve this, including a mews and village green, says the company.

Gardens are larger than would be expected on a suburban site and there is an informal play space and community orchard, as well as a 10m to 15m bat corridor along the northern and eastern boundary. Traditional ‘Devon banks’ are also included in the design.

St Mary View is within walking distance of the town centre and local transport connections, and is perfectly placed to explore the south Devon coastline. A green link with a footpath and new cycle path will be created down the length of Totnes Road to improve sustainable transport links for new and existing residents.
