A derelict Paignton hotel with planning permission to redevelop into homes has been put on the market for £2.5 million.
The hotel, formerly known as the Torbay Holiday Motel is located on Totnes Road in Collaton St Mary. After being built in the mid-20th century, it closed over ten years ago and has deteriorated since.
Once a thriving hotel with two swimming pools and restaurant, many now complain that the site has become a magnet for anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
Last year, a planning committee meeting approved Eden Property Group’s application for the demolition and redevelopment of the site for 30 new homes. The development will still be subject to matters of layout, scale, appearance and landscaping. The development plan for the site will include a mix of detached, semi-detached and short terraced properties.

Plans to redevelop the hotel have been in the pipeline for some time and this is the third application for development, one in 2015 was withdrawn and a second in 2019 for 33 homes was approved but the development was never started.
Now, Fulfords estate agents are selling the 2.9 acre brownfield site for a guide price of £2.5 million.

They say: “The site benefits from direct access onto the A385 Totnes Road and borders residential properties to the east and west.
“The site forms phase I of the adopted Collaton St Mary masterplan with future residential development planned to the south east.”
