As we move into 2023, Torbay Hospital Radio (THR) is looking forwards to doing even more to help the patients and staff at the hospital.

As a charity, THR relies on donations, but it is also planning to increase its event support and its involvement in the community to increase funding. THR will be attending as many events as possible to improve awareness of the charity and these will vary from full PA services at fairs, to pop-up stalls at a supermarket near you.

If you have an event planned, please contact THR via the website www.torbayhospitalradio.com and team members will arrange a visit to discuss your event and how THR can help you to make the day special.

So what does THR intend to do with donations? There's a second studio in the process of installation, which will allow THR to train more volunteers, and also to create Torbay Hospital's very own live lounge.

THR want to promote local bands by giving them air time in the hospital but also worldwide via the internet.

They want to continue with their programme to supply radios to any patient on any ward, who does not have their own entertainment equipment. So if a patient is on a ward with no mobile phone or tablet, THR will provide a radio which will provide entertainment, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This will allow all patients to listen and take part in the shows. They can request dedications for friends and loved ones, as well as taking part in many quizzes and phone ins.

Listeners can also catch up with THR podcasts which contain many interviews with local celebrities and members of the community.

Finally, if you have missed a show, you can always catch up on mix-cloud. Just go to www.mix-cloud.co.uk, and find the Torbay hospital radio page.

To achieve these goals, the charity relies on volunteers, but really needs more people to come and help. THR needs presenters to present their own radio shows, but also needs volunteers to help at outside events. Why don’t you get in touch via our website www.torbayhospitalradio.co.uk and you can be part of a great team.
