Forget fast fashion - a Torbay clothing brand is busy creating eco-friendly staples that aim to be in wardrobes for years to come.

Totaltidal is a local clothing brand that offers beachy vibes and sustainability.

It all started with an idea co-founder Aaron Stephenson had when he was a teenager. He wanted to create a clothing line inspired by the planet to help the planet.

Aaron made a few designs while learning how to screen print. It wasn’t until co-founder Jodie Hamilton came into the picture that Totaltidal became a brand.

Aaron and Jodie met while both working for an outdoor education company and connected over their love for nature and the environment. That original connection drove them to create a clothing company that was both eco-friendly and fashionable.

With backgrounds in product development and outdoor education, they decided to create and build Aaron's original brand 'Totaltidal'.

So, in 2018, they set up shop in their kitchen printing their eco-friendly fashion.

From the very beginning, all apparel has been 100 per cent organic or recycled cotton, using water-based and vegan inks and all of their clothes are free of any animal product.

Aaron and Jodie pick their suppliers to ensure all the clothing is of the highest standard while ensuring their social and environmental focus was met.

Last year, Totaltidal - 'born in Devon, made for the world' - won an award for 'best sustainable clothing and lifestyle brand' in the South West.

Now they have worked with local artists to create new designs and give local artists a chance to promote their talent.

Totaltidal recently made a change to their printing process and going from screen printing to direct to garment printing offers customers a greater range of designs and colours.

Aaron said: "This style of printing also reduces the wastage making Totaltidal even more eco-friendly. As a brand, Totaltidal don't believe in fast fashion, we believe in creating clothing that will become a staple in wardrobes for years to come."
