Living Room visitors enjoying the RYTC treat
Torquay's Royal Torbay Yacht Club has set out on a community mission to show it is more than just about sailing
Torquay's Royal Torbay Yacht Club has set out on a community mission to show it is more than just about sailing.
The initiative was given a festive start when the club linked up with the St Mags Church and its Living Room project which offers a free and welcoming space to some who need it the most.
Tom Monnington, RTYC’s catering partner, came up with the idea of donating 100 freshly baked rolls, a large turkey which Tom cooked in the club’s kitchen and a gluten free vegetable soup.

St Mags has between 85 and 100 guests on the designated days during the week that serve food in The Living Room.
A RTYC spokesman said: “Tom said that he wanted to promote the club to show that it actually does more for the community than most folk realise, as well as to spread some festive cheer.
“The event was a huge success. The RTYC were delighted to be working with St Mags and aim to continue the partnership.”
