Records were broken as businesses united for the EXPO event of the year.
The English Riviera was buzzing with energy as over 800 people gathered at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay for the third Riviera Connect Expo for a day of inspiration, innovation, and collaboration.
Jointly organised by the English Riviera BID Company and the Torbay Business Forum, the Expo has become one of Torbay’s most significant business showcases.
This year’s event broke records once again, with 822 visitors, over 110 exhibitors, and an action-packed programme of expert speakers, panels, and networking.
Free parking was provided courtesy of Ocean BMW, and a vibrant mix of local and regional businesses filled the halls with conversation, connection, and creativity.
The day began with a sell-out Torbay Business Forum breakfast, welcoming 250 attendees to hear guest speaker Andrew Clancy, founder of Coreus Group and C Squared Construct. “I’m struggling to think of another event where there’s so much positivity, kindness, and a willingness to collaborate — you guys have smashed it,” said Andrew.
TBF chair Steve Reynolds said: “Riviera Connect 2025 is not just an Expo — it’s a coming together of the people and businesses who make the English Riviera thrive. The positivity, the support and the willingness to collaborate this year have been incredible.”
The morning included a moving tribute to Pippa Craddock, much-loved marketing professional and friend of the business community, led by Chris Hart of Wollens.
There was standing room only for her funeral at the Torquay crematorium chapel this week after her sudden death at the age of just 50.
The halls were alive with activity across business sectors. From the Hi Tech Cluster, delivered by director Richard Scutt and the EPIC Centre team, to podcasts hosted by Superb Media and Riviera Connect, innovation was a recurring theme.
Delegates explored six electric vehicles, an interactive “Beyond the Wall” display, and speed networking sessions hosted by Devon Women in Business.
The Expert Roundtables proved popular, giving attendees a chance to grab a coffee and chat directly with local experts including Vic Williams (Diversity in the Workplace), Jess Wiggins (Lead with Impact), Sam Webber (Business Growth Through Founder-Led Content), and Grace Jolley (Level Up Your LinkedIn). The inaugural #TorbAI Roundtable — the first of its kind in Torbay — also made its debut, helping lay the foundations for a new AI community across the Bay.
On the Speaker Hub and Main Stage, an impressive line-up covered everything from digital marketing and regeneration to networking, leadership, and tourism. Richard Netherclift and Peter Blackler from Insignia Creative demystified AI; Simon Beer from Bigwave Marketing built a brand live with audience input; John Harvey of The Samphire Club inspired with lessons on networking that delivers; Sean Anstee from the Devon & Torbay Combined County Authority explored devolution and growth opportunities; and Gemma Ross from Chalk & Ward shared smart campaign planning strategies.
Torbay Council, a sponsor of Riviera Connect, showcased their initiatives, attractions and business support services. David Carter, Director of Regeneration at Torbay Council, and Chris Wheeler, Regional Head of Land & Development at Willmott Dixon and Stuart Harris from Milligan presented “Shaping Torbay’s Future: Regeneration in Action.” Their session explored how bold regeneration projects and public–private collaboration are driving transformation across the Bay.
Carolyn Custerson, Chief Executive of the English Riviera BID Company, followed with an inspiring Tourism Update: The Future of the English Riviera, highlighting strong visitor trends and the continued success of the English Riviera’s national TV campaigns.
She said: “Events like Riviera Connect demonstrate the power of partnership — when our business, tourism and community sectors come together, it really amplifies our region’s strength.”
Later, the Expo concluded with Brendon Prince, multi–world SUP record holder and Event Director for the ICF SUP World Cup 2026, who shared his inspiring journey and the exciting announcement that the World SUP Championships are coming to the English Riviera in 2026.
Alison Benney, Expo Chair and Director of enlightenHR, said: "This isn’t just an exhibition — it’s a movement, driven by people who genuinely care about our Bay and each other.”
Riviera Connect supported two local charities — Children’s Hospice South West and The Mare and Foal Sanctuary - and hundreds of pounds were raised.
The success of Riviera Connect 2025 was made possible by an incredible network of sponsors and partners:
Gold Sponsor: Bigwave Marketing
Silver Sponsors: Insignia Creative, Torbay Council, South Devon College, Wollens, Kents Cavern, The Redcliffe Hotel, Ocean BMW, Hotel Indigo, MD Elite
Bronze Sponsors: Konsileo Insurance, OTB Interiors
Partners: enlightenHR, Seen In Design, Clear Sky Publishing, Talking Slides, Bays Brewery, Hunts Cider, Devonia
Behind the scenes, Devonia Water kept everyone hydrated, Talking Slides provided outstanding AV support, and the students from South Devon College went above and beyond — smiling, engaging, and helping throughout the day. Special thanks were also given to Laura Kozaczynski and her team at the Riviera International Centre, whose professionalism and hospitality ensured everything ran seamlessly.
Kelly Widley, Event Organiser, said: “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and to already have sponsors re-signing for 2026 shows just how much Riviera Connect means to our community.”
The day concluded with informal drinks at the “bar” with exhibitors and supporters Hunts Cider, Bays Brewery, and Vivino, accompanied by live music from Arena Torquay.
Save the Date — Riviera Connect Expo returns Wednesday October 7, 2026.
