New Market Hall and Square taking shape in Newton Abbot

The refurbishment and redevelopment of the Market Hall and Market Square in Newton Abbot is progressing well.
Teignbridge Council says the improvements are designed to revitalise the town centre, creating a vibrant destination in the heart of the area that blends daytime and evening trading. The new venue will offer a mix of retail, food, events, and a bar, with space for pop-up activities in the main hall.
A procurement process is underway for a management company to run the Market Hall when it reopens next year.
Residents are being asked to support local traders at the temporary indoor market in the meantime.
Local company, Wignalls, are building the new trading units and bar which will be ready for installation later this year.
In the Market Square, new paving and infrastructure are being laid to support future events. Work will continue in the square until mid-November, then move towards the new pedestrian route through to Market Street.
Teignbridge Council says: "We are grateful to local businesses and traders for their patience and co-operation during the works."
