Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Brixham in which a pedestrian died.

Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Brixham in which a pedestrian died.

Emergency services were called at 12.10pm on Saturday October 4 after the collision involving a grey Volvo XC90 and a 79-year-old woman outside Sainsbury’s Local on New Road.

Sadly, the woman from Brixham sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A man in his 40s from Brixham was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

The road was closed until 6.35pm for officers to carry out investigative work and to recover the vehicle.

Roads policing officers are carrying out an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for anyone with information or dashcam to contact them.
