A classic vehicle show held in Exmouth last month by the local Morris Minor Owners Club and Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club has raised nearly £2,500 for their chosen charity, Devon Air Ambulance.

The annual Exmouth Classic Vehicle Show took place on the Imperial Recreation Ground on Sunday August 10 and saw over 400 classic cars and motorcycles and several hundred visitors from across the region turning up to enjoy the occasion.

Instead of charging a formal entry fee, the event asks those attending to make a donation in the collecting buckets for the organisers’ chosen charity.

Last week the two clubs received news from Devon Air Ambulance Trust that £2,454.93 had been raised from the voluntary donations, the sale of second-hand books and raffle tickets for the tombola. This brings the total amount raised for this charity since 2010 to over £16,500.

Group organiser for the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club SW Region, said: “It is amazing how our Exmouth show has become so popular over recent years and the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club loves working together with the Morris Minor Club to put it on.”

Nickie Tilley, the spokesperson for the Morris Minor Owners Club Devon Branch added: “We really could not have asked for better weather and such a fantastic turnout of vehicles and visitors supporting the show. Thank you so much to everyone who came along to support us.”

The organisers have confirmed that next year’s Exmouth Classic Vehicle Show will take place on Sunday, August 9.

The Crash Box Club’s Powderham Castle annual Historic Vehicle Show has raised around £300,000 for charity over the fifty years it has been held so these events are much more than just a collection of old cars on a day out. Please come and support the classic car world whenever you can and know that your involvement helps so many who cannot attend.

Even the tiniest of village shows usually has a small collection on display. This teaches our children about the ‘green’ benefits of keeping old cars on the road instead of buying new cars every year.
