Summer heat is finally hitting Torbay as this week sees the mercury go up to the high 20 degree (C) mark, possibly 30, according to the Met Office's forecast.
Today is set to be around 25 degrees celsius, while tomorrow is the hottest at 29-30. Wednesday is forecast to be 27 and Friday 24. All days are to be fine and sunny.
It's likely that the weather will be classed as a heatwave. Accoding to the Met Office, a UK heatwave threshold is met when a location records a period of at least three consecutive days with daily maximum temperatures meeting or exceeding the heatwave temperature threshold. For Devon, that threshold is 25 degrees celsius.
Later in the week, thunderstorms are possible but Torbay is not currently under a weather warning, as much of the south of England is.
Weather so far in the Bay has been unremarkable, as Mark Rowe and Mark Baker record, who monitor the weather in Oldway.
Total weekly rainfall amounted to 3.6mm, the wettest day being last Thursday with 3.1mm, which was also rather humid throughout.
July rainfall stands at 82.3mm, last July's monthly total was 117.3mm. The year to date the total is 778mm.
The weather improved from Friday with increasing sunny spells. The 28th was a perfect summer day.
Maximum temperatures were between 19c and 22.6c, this being reached on 23rd.
This July has seen 12 dry days thus far, compared to just 4 during the whole of last July.
