One of the most picturesque beaches in the UK has launched its new café, lounge, and restaurant.

Opened in June at Blackpool Sands, this top beachside dining spot offers a relaxed ambiance with a stunning view of aquamarine seas and iconic cliffs decorated with pine trees that slope down into clear, crystal waters.

The design of the restaurant is described as: “a masterclass in coastal chic, featuring products from Devon-based Nkuku and the creativity of a talented local design team. The result is a unique and inspiring aesthetic that perfectly blends modern and coastal elements.

The design incorporates natural materials such as wood and stone, with floor-to-ceiling glass doors allowing natural light to flood the space and offering uninterrupted views of the beach and sea.”

The new restaurant complements the well-established takeaway, presenting a diverse menu featuring the finest locally sourced food and centered around the beach’s ethos of minimising environmental impact. Head Chef Sam Evans has curated a menu that caters to all tastes, highlighting the rich flavors of the West Country. From Blackpool Sands Seafood Thali to Classic Fish and Chips, Chicken Milanese, Dartmouth Crab, and the Beach BLT, every dish is a celebration of the region's produce.

Head chef Sam Evans said: "We are thrilled to bring this new dining experience to Blackpool Sands.

"Our suppliers are our friends, and supporting each other showcases what we can achieve in Devon."

Blackpool Sands is privately owned by the Newman family, who joined forces with local hoteliers Charlie and Zuzanna Deuchar last year to create an exciting new visitor experience at the beach.

Charlie Deuchar, operations manager at Blackpool Sands, explained his vision: "We aimed to create the ultimate beachside dining experience in South Devon. Our design journey focused on blending natural elements with modern comfort, ensuring that every visitor feels connected to the stunning surroundings while enjoying exceptional food and ambiance."

Sir Geoffrey Newman added: "We’re delighted to have the restaurant open once again to provide an incredible experience for visitors. They can relax in a beautiful setting, enjoy staggering views, and savour superb food. This project is also testament to our dedication to sustainability and the local community."

In addition to offering the ultimate in beachside dining with a relaxed and laid-back vibe, Blackpool Sands also provides an outdoor sauna, paddle boards and sea kayaks for coastal adventures and off grid bird houses and a shepherd’s hut for those starlit nights and stunning coastal views.

The restaurant is open 9am - 5pm, 9am - 6pm on weekends.
