Brixham Charity Shop raises over £200k for Macmillan

The Brixham Charity Shop is raising a glass to celebrate two landmark occasions.

In an outstanding display of commitment, the dedicated volunteers at the shop have raised an astonishing £221,077 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And shop manager Sue Wills is 10 years old as a volunteer.

Sue said: "We are so pleased to have raised so much money to help people living with cancer in Torbay. We enjoy coming into the shop everyday, we are like a family and to have raised this much money is the icing on the cake."

The funds raised play a crucial role in supporting individuals living with cancer.

Atalia O’Leary, fundraising manager at Macmillan, said: “We are beyond grateful for the dedication of the amazing volunteers at the Brixham Charity Shop. They are an extraordinary team and this milestone reflects their passion and dedication. I’d also like to say a huge thank you to Sue for her commitment over the last decade. She has been a wonderful leader.

"I’d also like to say a special thank you to everyone who has visited the shop. We are so grateful for the kindness and generosity you have shown us. 98 per cent of our income comes from donations, so we really do rely on the support of communities like Brixham."

If you have a spare three hours a week and you’d like to join the team at Brixham Charity Shop, meet new people and help people living with cancer, or if you want any further information please contact Atalia on 0782487883 or AtOLeary@macmillan.org.uk for an informal chat.
