Met Office issues weather warning as rain batters south Devon

Heavy rain has been forecast across south Devon and Torbay, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for both today and tomorrow.

A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for south Devon and Torbay. Cornwall and much of southern England are also affected. 

The Environment Agency has also put out a flood warning for the River Teign. 

The weather warning began at midday today and continues until 3am on Friday. 

It's anticipated that 20-30mm of rain will fall for between six and nine hours, with some areas seeing up to 50mm.

With the ground already saturated, the rain is predicted to have a far greater impact on local travel and infrastructure.

The Met Office has advised there is a slight chance of power cuts, additional flooding and road closures.

What to Expect: Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads#
Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible
