Truro v Torquay United called off
Torquay United’s return National League South derby against Truro City has been called off, two days before Saturday’s scheduled 3pm kick-off.
Conditions at Plymouth Parkway’s Bolitho Park were expected to be heavy anyway, and a statement quoting ‘adverse weather conditions’ accompanied the news of the game’s early postponement.
It had been brought forward from New Year’s Day to December 30 some time ago.
City shocked Plainmoor’s biggest crowd of the season (3,764) by beating the Gulls 1-0 on Boxing Day.
On top of their other seven injured players, United lost loan striker Theo Williams on Tuesday to a hamstring injury.
His parent club Fleetwood Town may call him back for his recovery.
As things stand, United have no fit senior strikers, so at least manager Gary Johnson and his backroom team have more time to nail down a replacement or two before Eastbourne Borough come to Plainmoor on Saturday week (Jan 6).
