Christmas is coming early to Torquay, as Bistrot Pierre teams up with local charity Age UK Torbay to donate meals to residents who may be in need this festive season.
Torbay diners celebrating with friends and family by eating out this Christmas, will also be contributing towards a free restaurant meal for a resident in their community.
For every Sunday Christmas party booking of six people or more in December, Bistrot Pierre, will gift a free Menu Pierre three-course meal to a Torbay resident, redeemable throughout January 2024.
This initiative comes after a year that has seen an unprecedented cost-of-living crisis, and an increase in those relying on charity support.
The Christmas initiative, first introduced last year, will donate dinners to well-deserving Torquay residents, nominated by Age UK Torbay, providing a place for the community to gather and celebrate the festive season together.
Age UK Torbay was founded in 1980, with the sole purpose of working in the local Torquay, Paignton and Brixham communities, making later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience for all. With 45 dedicated staff and over 25 volunteers, the charity seeks to represent older people within the community, to ensure their views, wishes and needs are heard.
“Age UK Torbay are very pleased to be partnering with Bistrot Pierre this Christmas”, says Helen Harman from the charity. “This collaboration will benefit some of our most lonely and isolated older people who will be over the moon to have a meal out, so that they can make friends, and enjoy a lovely time. We can’t wait for Christmas and our meal to come around and want to thank everyone for their support.”
Bistrot Pierre’s CEO Nick White said: “We are delighted to be welcoming back our community charity partners this Christmas. Community is at the heart of what we do and as families continue to struggle with the cost-of-living this Christmas, we want to open our doors and welcome those most in need to enjoy a well-deserved and much-needed treat on us.
“We hope customers will want to get involved and make a difference to the lives of vulnerable residents in Torbay. We are still taking bookings for our Christmas period, so we're encouraging customers to try and be as generous as possible and enjoy a little bit of festive fun with us, which will also help those residents most in need in the area.
“It goes without saying, that we want to say thank you to Age UK Torbay for all the incredible work they do for the local community.”
Bistro Pierre describes its restaurant to prospective diners with the promise of a warm welcome.
It says: “Our bistrot is near the Princess Theatre and provides you with the perfect space to relax with friends and family whatever the occasion, set over two floors, with a downstairs bar and a covered first floor balcony offering panoramic views of Torquay’s beach and bay whatever the weather. Upstairs, we have ‘maids perch' - many years ago the widowed maids would look out to sea… these days it’s much more fun – in favourable weather the perch has the most magnificent views and really is best place to be in Torquay.
“Open daily for lunch and dinner, and breakfast on the weekend, our menu has dishes for everyone, including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options inspired by our travels around France, our menus combine Bistrot classics with new seasonal dishes. Whether it’s a quick lunch or a relaxing dinner, our stunning Bistrot is perfect for every occasion.”
