Members of Brixham Rotary Club are all geared up for their annual Christmas visit to Brixham by Santa Claus.
Brixham Rotary president, Adrian Laurie, said: “Once again, our club has arranged for Father Christmas to visit the children of Brixham which started on December 13 until December 19 when he will travel through various districts of the town in his Christmas trailer.
“This follows on from his brief visit at the end of last month to switch on the Christmas illuminations in the town and lead the Lantern Parade. This was a wonderful evening and the town was packed with people.
“The Rotary Club of Brixham is continuing a tradition of Santa visits that has continued for over 70 years and we expect the usual high turnout of young children anxious to see him.”

A timetable of Santa’s visit is included on this page.

More details of the club and its events are available on the club website at www.brixhamrotary. org and their Facebook page.
Torbay’s Mayor Cllr Mark Spacagna was the guest of honour at the opening of this year’s Fleet Walk Santa’s Grotto in Torquay.
President of Sunrise Rotary Club, Andy Uglow, said: “This is the grotto’s 31st year and we are delighted to host this wonderful community event in Torquay once gain.
“It is run by volunteers from Sunrise, along with Tormohun Rotary Club and Torquay Ladies Circle and all of the proceeds go back to local charities.”
The grotto runs until December 24 and tickets can be purchased from www.eventbrite.co.uk, just search for Fleet Walk Santa’s Grotto.
Recently, Torbay Prostate Support Association, supported by the Rotary Club of Preston (Torbay), ran another of its Prostate Health and PSA blood test events at the Livermead House Hotel in Torquay.
This was the fourth such event held in the past two years, where 365 men were tested. Out of these, 16 men received red and seven received amber letters encouraging them to discuss the results with their GP.
Of that number, three men were in their early 50s and 11 in their 60s. Over the past two years, the group have carried out a staggering 1,200 tests at these awareness and testing events.
Next year marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of TPSA and as such two further events are being held in May and October 2024 so keep an eye on the TPSA website for actual dates.
A TPSA representative said: “The continued support given by the Rotary Club of Torbay (Preston) both financially and in marshalling all of these events has been tremendous.
“We certainly would not be able to have run these without them.”
