It was back to league action this week with a full set of fixtures.
The leading sides in the first division all conjured up comfortable wins. NA Buzzards, currently top, defeated Halwell A 9-1, Herbie Sage and Kevin Nicholls with maximums for the Buzzards. The two sides behind the Buzzards, with games in hand, both had whitewash victories.
The NA Batmen team of Rory Harries, Dennis and Shaun Gibbs defeated Brixham Sharks while Aarish Maharjan, Toma and Alessandro Mitranescu for Torbay Academy 1 saw off the challenge of NA Condors. NA Condors with two games in the week recovered to defeat Halwell A 9-1 who probably wished they hadn’t had two games in the week! Mark Morley and Jim McIvor with maximums for the Condors. Bryan Birkbeck and Tim Burridge were undefeated for NA Eagles as they got the better of clubmates NA Parrots 8-2.
It’s very interesting at the top of the second division with the top four teams all involved in drawn matches. Leaders Brixham Trawlers were held to a draw by NA Falcons. Second placed NA Raptors could not be separated from third placed Dawlish Aces. Fourth placed Grove Guerrillas had Colin Butterworth’s fourth maximum to thank for helping secure the draw against Torbay Academy 2. The only victory in the second division belonged to Halwell B who picked up their first win of the season with a Mick Mercer inspired 8-2 victory over NA Kestrels.
Torbay Academy 3 hit the top of the third division with an 8-2 victory over NA Harriers, Andy Harris and Peter Moretta with maximums for the Academy. Torre Vikings, in the runners up spot, had a narrow 6-4 win over NA Hawks. Torbay Academy 4 picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Brixham Gulls 6-4.
Three teams share the lead at the top of the fourth division. Torbay Academy 4’s 8-2 win over Brixham Seals keeps up their run of wins, Jean Neafcy and Ann Marie Gibbs with maximums for the Academy. Marc Grim had another maximum for Dawlish Doubtfuls but it wasn’t enough as NA Merlins held the Dawlish side to a 5-5 draw.
NA Ospreys had a narrow 6-4 win over Torbay Academy 6 thanks to a maximum from Ken Ramsden. Robert Excell secured a maximum as his Torre Gladiators drew with NA Vultures.
