Big day for Torquay United Ladies
Torquay United Women’s team are still celebrating their first-ever and overdue National League Division One South victory after routing ten-player Selsey 6-0 at Wall Park, Brixham.
It was a vital match in every way.
The promoted Gulls had only one point to show for their first six matches, a series of injuries had cut deep into their squad in recent weeks and Selsey were point-less before kick off.
The Gulls’ hopes received a boost when Selsey player Lauren Kelly-Stoner was sent off after only six minutes.
But they took full advantage to win with goals by Tracey Cross (2), Danni Wyatt (2), Chloe Kind and Lily Burton.
The Gulls, up to ninth, have a chance to follow up when they travel to Bridgwater tonight (Wed) for a 7.45pm KO.
United’s Under-18 side suffered their first defeat of the season when Bath City beat them in the SW Counties Youth League Cup group stage 2-1 at South Devon College. The young Gulls, top of the table, are away to Yeovil Town in the league this Saturday.
