Greycliffe residents enjoying the music
Torquay's Greycliffe Care Home recently organised an event that showcased the power of compassion and community spirit.
Residents, staff, and families joined forces to raise funds for two worthy causes: the Salvation Army and the Alzheimer's Society. The heart-warming event featured a vibrant fete attended by locals and residents, with delightful cake stalls and a variety of prizes to be won.
The local Salvation Army graced the event with a wonderful live musical performance. Residents and attendees swayed along to the music at the Salvation Army's powerful, moving performance.
All proceeds from day went to both charities, selected by Greycliffe residents as services very close to their hearts.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Clare Potton, the care home manager, expressed her gratitude. "Our residents and staff worked tirelessly to bring this wonderful event to life. It's heart-warming to witness the incredible generosity and support from our community. Together, we have made a meaningful impact on the lives of those supported by the Salvation Army and the Alzheimer's Society."
The funds raised will provide vital resources for the Salvation Army's initiatives, enabling them to aid vulnerable individuals and families in need. In addition, the contribution to the Alzheimer's Society will aid in their ground-breaking research and support services for those affected by dementia, fostering a better quality of life.
Carol McCarthy, Area Manager, said: “I am so proud to work with such an incredible team. The fact that they reach out to others and support them shows what a wonderful home this is.”
One family member commented about how she loves coming to the home. “There is always something on and residents are so well cared for. Mum has gone from strength to strength since moving into the home. I couldn’t wish for a better place for her to spend her days."
