Brixham's Eden Park Park Primary School is celebrating after passing a recent inspection with flying colours

Ofsted have given the school a ‘strong Good’ rating and says 'pupils thrive at this community-focused, friendly school’.
The inspectors commented warmly on the safe and welcoming environment to learn for all children, the wide range of extra-curriculum activities on offer and the high expectations of staff of their pupils.
The inspection included a deep dive into reading, maths, history and art and inspectors talked to children, parents, school and Trust leaders about all aspects of Eden Park, including early years, safeguarding and the provision for children with special needs and disabilities.
The inspectors said: "Leaders give reading the highest priority. They have established a curriculum that ensures all pupils can learn and enjoy reading. From the moment they start in the nursery, children experience rich opportunities to learn language."
Head teacher Ian Morgan said: "This is our first full inspection since June 2017, and we’ve made a lot of changes and improvements to our curriculum and teaching in that time.
"We’re delighted that we retained our ‘Good’ overall effectiveness, especially as the inspectors made many complimentary remarks about the positive ethos of the school, its leaders and staff, as well as the impact of being part of Connect Academy Trust. We’re all committed to excellence and to giving all children the best chance in life, so it’s very rewarding to have this recorded in such a positive report."
Eden Park offers high quality provision for over 470 children, including two on-site nurseries which take children from two years upwards. The school joined the values led Connect Academy Trust in June 2022 and since then has been awarded the prestigious European Union Blue Schools Award for its commitment to inspiring and educating children about ocean conservation.
"Eden Park provides a wonderful learning environment for children. We’ve been working with the school staff and leadership team to make improvements to the way children’s learning was recorded and invest in staff training, for example. It’s clear from the report that Ofsted inspectors found much to praise about the school, including the excellent teaching in Early Years in particular. We are very pleased that Ofsted have recognised the quality of the provision for all children at Eden Park and written such a strong ‘Good’ report to reflect this. We wish to share congratulations with Mr Morgan and the whole team at the school," said Stuart Bellworthy, CEO of Connect Academy Trust.
