Torquay couple John and Margaret Glanvill celebrated their 90th birthdays in style

Torquay couple John and Margaret Glanvill celebrated their 90th birthdays in style - and raised £1,000 for Rowcroft Hospice at the same time.
The money was donated after a special '180th birthday' celebration at the Livermead House Hotel.
The couple - married for an incredible 68 years - asked for donations to Rowcroft instead of presents and were amazed when the figure topped the £1,000 mark.
Daughter Jane Watson said: "It has been a difficult year so far for them both with ongoing health issues and trying to get back to normal life after lockdown. We as a family decided to arrange a 180th birthday celebration for them to catch up with their many friends and family members.
"We arranged an afternoon tea at the Livermead House. I sent out many invites thinking not everyone would come. There were 130 yes please replies.
"It was a fabulous, emotional memory-making day throughly enjoyed by all. Mum and Dad were totally overwhelmed seeing so many old friends and relatives. They were amazed everyone wanted to be with them to celebrate their special birthdays. They didn’t want any presents just donations for our wonderful Rowcroft. The total raised is truly amazing. Our Mum and Dad were just speechless by everyone’s generosity."
John was born in Plymouth and Margaret in Southall London. They met at Ellacombe Youth club when they were both 18 and were married at Abbey Road Catholic Church on September 8, 1956, with a guard-of-honour from the 1st Ellacombe Cub scouts as Margaret was their cub leader.
They have lived in Torquay all their married life.
John loves everything old - motorbikes, cars, steam trains and he is a collector of many things. Margaret is a keen gardener and a life member of the Torbay Horticultural Society - she has only recently stopped 'gorilla' gardening at the gardens in Cockington.
They have four married children - Jane and Tony, Rob and Bren, Jon and Liz and Haydn and Andora - nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
