The acquisition of Penn Meadows land will provide new opportunities to manage the two adjoining sites as a more connected green space, potentially leading to extending accessible routes and enhancing habitats to encourage local wildlife.

Brixham’s green space is set to expand after the town council secured a key plot of land alongside Wishings Field to create a unified nature area for residents.

The plot, located to the east of Penn Meadows, directly adjoins Wishings Field, Brixham’s registered Village Green, acquired by the council in 2023.

By bringing the two neighboring sites under local stewardship, town leaders plan to manage them as one connected green corridor, extending accessible walking routes and boosting native wildlife habitats.

The addition of the Penn Meadows land will provide new opportunities to manage the two adjoining sites as a more connected green space.

This could create opportunities to extend accessible routes and enhance wildlife habitats.

The town council hopes that Wishings Field and Penn Meadows will together become a welcoming environment where local residents and visitors can enjoy nature and experience the benefits of green spaces.

Councillor Clive Nicholls, Mayor of Brixham, said: “We are pleased to have completed the transfer of this land, which represents another important step in our commitment to protecting and enhancing Brixham’s green spaces.”

“Bringing Penn Meadows and Wishings Field together under local stewardship will support our ambitions to improve access, encourage biodiversity and create a valuable community asset for residents and visitors alike.”
