Pupils at Brixham Church of England Primary School celebrated faith, nature and community together by leading a special Forest Church service.
The service was held at the school’s Forest School and was led by pupil chaplains in partnership with Brixham Mission Community.
They welcomed members of the community and local church leaders to the school grounds to enjoy an afternoon of prayer and activities inspired by the natural world.
The service brought the school’s outdoor learning opportunities together with its Christian ethos, giving pupils an active role in leading worship and exploring their spirituality.
The pupils were also very pleased to welcome their new team vicar, Reverend Andy, alongside Reverend Philippa and Michala from the Diocese of Exeter.
Several prayer stations were set up around the woodland site which impressed the diocesan representatives.
The service gave pupils the opportunity to gain confidence and take responsibility to lead, while also exploring the connection between faith and the natural world.
Jenny Stewart, Headteacher at Brixham C of E Primary School said: “As the only Church of England school in Brixham, we are proud to offer children opportunities to develop their understanding of what it means to be part of a Christian community.”
“Our Forest Church service was a wonderful opportunity for our Pupil Chaplains to take the lead in a setting that is so special to our school.”
“Bringing this together with prayer and reflection helped us celebrate the connections between our Christian vision, our natural environment and our wider community.”
