Exeter City have secured a short-term loan facility as a precautionary move to strengthen their financial position, as the League One club continues to deal with mounting financial pressures.

The Grecians have also struggled on the pitch this season, adding to concerns both on and off the field.

The club said the money has not been drawn down, with cashflow currently stable, but the facility has been put in place to guard against any potential short-term issues before the end of the financial year.

Exeter City Supporters’ Trust, which owns the club, has already stepped in with financial support, loaning an additional £200,000 on top of £400,000 earlier this year.

Those financial challenges have come despite significant recent income from player sales and sell-on clauses involving Ethan Ampadu, Ollie Watkins, Jay Stansfield and Millenic Alli.

The latest loan, provided by an Exeter-based business, has been described as a short-term safeguard, with the club expressing gratitude for the backing as it looks to stabilise its finances.
