The popular family fun park at Trago Mills in Newton Abbot is set to fully reopen its doors this weekend, marking the return of several heritage attractions.

In a statement released on social media, park officials confirmed that the final phase of the site's reopening will include the return of the famous model railway, go-karts, and a variety of other major rides.

To mark the occasion, the park will be running steam trains throughout the weekend, starting from 11am.

The reopening follows a significant period of closure for the site, which has long been a staple of South West tourism. The management of the Newton Abbot attraction has been taken over by Play Leisure Services, a regional firm with plans to restore the park to its full capacity ahead of the busy spring holiday season.

The move is expected to provide a significant boost to the local area as families look for outdoor activities during the upcoming break.

The return of the park has been welcomed by local business leaders and the community alike. A spokesperson for Trago Mills told The Moorlander that the revival of the site was a pivotal moment for the region.

"The reopening represents more than just the return of a family day out," the spokesperson said. "It signals renewed confidence, investment, and opportunity for the local economy, supporting jobs and tourism across the region."

The park’s model railway, often cited as one of the largest and most intricate of its kind in the UK, is expected to be a primary draw for visitors this Saturday and Sunday.
