Contractors working on the North Devon Link Road have said all works are set to be finished in April and traffic restrictions removed.
Subject to the weather, contractor Alun Griffiths, which has been carrying out the ongoing works on behalf of Devon County Council, has said after Easter all remaining works will be completed and ‘all traffic management removed’.
But it has also warned there will be a series of road closures for at least a week in mid-April.
Motorists have dealt with months of overnight lane closures, traffic lights and sometimes diversions as work has continued since February 2021 on the major £60million project to upgrade the A361 between Barnstaple and South Molton.

For the month of April, drivers will still face traffic management overnight between 8pm and 6am, with single lanes closed on the dualled sections between Barnstaple and South Molton.
Griffiths has warned to complete the works, overnight road closures will be necessary between Monday, April 13 and Friday, April 17, which may need to extend into the following week if bad weather prevents the laying of road markings.
But the company’s latest statement also suggests an Easter present for drivers, saying: “After Easter all the remaining works will be completed during April and all traffic management removed.”
All road closures will be from 8pm to 6am with diversions in place. Subject to weather, the current schedule will see a closure between Portmore Roundabout and Landkey Roundabout on April 13.
The Landkey to Aller Cross roundabouts on April 14, Borners Roundabout to Bish Mill on April 15 and Aller to Borners roundabouts on April 16.
Other overnight restrictions will include two-way temporary traffic lights at Borners Bridge Roundabout on April 17, as well as a single lane reduction and lights as needed between April 7 and 21.
Landkey Roundabout reduced to a single lane with occasional traffic lights on April 20.
All traffic management will be removed from these areas during the daytime. All works will be subject to weather conditions.
