Drivers in Devon are being advised of an overnight closure tonight on the northbound A38 near Chudleigh due to roadworks.

The closure will be in place from 8pm on Thursday 26 March until 6am on Friday 27 March while patching works are carried out on the northbound approach.

According to National Highways, the works will affect sections of the Chudleigh bypass, including the stretch of the A38 through the B3344 junction west of Chudleigh and routes joining the carriageway in that area.

The scheme is being carried out by contractor HW Martin on behalf of National Highways.

Local residents have been warned that disruption is likely. Hennock Parish Council said in a notice: “A38 Road Closure tonight 8pm-6am northbound for ‘Patching Works on Northbound approach’ roadworks, delays likely.”

The closure will be in force continuously throughout the night.

Patching works are typically carried out to repair worn or damaged road surfaces and maintain safety on major routes.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys, follow signed diversion routes and check traffic updates before travelling.
