Students at Cranbrook Education Campus enjoyed a flavour-filled food technology workshop in collaboration with chefs from Denley’s Indian Restaurant.

Year 9 Hospitality and Catering students worked alongside professional chefs to prepare a traditional vegetable curry and rice, learning about ingredients, cooking techniques and the flavours that make Indian cuisine so distinctive.

The hands-on session filled the school kitchen with the aromas of traditional spices as students followed expert guidance to create their dishes. Alongside developing practical cooking skills, the workshop also gave students an insight into careers in the hospitality industry.

Students had the opportunity to taste-test their own creations, celebrating the results of their teamwork and newly developed skills.

Part of the Ted Wragg Trust, Cranbrook Education Campus offers a wide range of enrichment opportunities designed to connect classroom learning with real-world industries, helping students explore career pathways and build practical experience.

Stephen Farmer, Head of Campus at Cranbrook Education Campus, said:
“It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to work alongside professional chefs and experience the hospitality industry first-hand. The workshop not only developed their cooking skills but also gave them a real insight into the creativity, teamwork and precision involved in top-class professional kitchens.”

Tee Hussein, Manager of Denley’s in Cranbrook, added:
“It was a real pleasure working with the students at Cranbrook Education Campus. Their enthusiasm and creativity made the workshop incredibly rewarding, and it was great to see them engaging so positively with the ideas we explored.”
