Popular Strawberry Fields ‘Tulip Fest’ returns with 500,000 bulbs planted

A popular spring attraction on the Devon-Cornwall border is set to return later this month as Strawberry Fields Farm Shop prepares to host what organisers describe as the South West’s largest tulip festival.

Tulip Fest 2026 will take place at the Lifton site from Saturday March 28 to Sunday April 19, coinciding with the Easter school and bank holidays.

More than 500,000 tulip bulbs have been planted across four acres of farmland, creating large-scale displays designed to produce sweeping bands of colour when in bloom.

Organisers say the bulbs have been imported from Holland and represent around 60 different varieties, arranged to create patterned fields and an ombré effect.

Alongside the floral displays, visitors can expect a festival atmosphere with live walk-around musicians, food and drink stalls, craft activities and family entertainment.

Planned attractions include a marshmallow toasting station, face painting, a craft tent, freshly made doughnuts and ice cream, as well as a bar and homemade food from the farm shop. 

Visitors will also be able to create their own tulip bouquets and purchase potted or pre-cut flowers.

More than 40 themed photo locations are also promised, featuring installations inspired by Dutch culture, including a windmill, traditional-style houses, oversized clogs and other large props.

The event is hosted by Strawberry Fields, a family-run farm business that began as a small pick-your-own strawberry site in 1990 before expanding into a farm shop and seasonal events venue.

Today the business operates multiple locations across Devon, including Buckfastleigh and Exeter, with further expansion planned to a site near Yelverton coming later this year.

Explaining the idea behind the festival, organisers said: “At Strawberry Fields, everything we do starts with growing. 

“Each of our events celebrates crops grown on our own land, and we’re always looking for new ways to expand our seasonal experiences.”

The farm has previously attracted large crowds for events such as its annual autumn pumpkin festival.
