North Devon Motor Club has once again picked up an award from the regional motorsporting governing body, The Association of South Western Motor Clubs at their Presentation of Awards held in Exeter.

Dave Ellis from South Molton was presented with the prestigious Volunteer of the Year Trophy following this very powerful citation:

“Dave has been a valued member of the North Devon Motor Club committee for many years and, along with Kevin Down, ensures that the equipment owned by the club is looked after and allocated where necessary.

“He is behind the planning of the autocross track on the club’s Sugworthy Circuit at High Bickington, for both of the Autocrosses held each year. He is part of the set-up team for The Stu Wood Targa and the Masters Sprint held on Chivenor Airfield, The Exmoor Trial and the Steve Knight Tarka Trial, proving that age is just a number getting involved with all aspects of route/track set-up.

“Not only does he do all this for North Devon Motor Club but he is also active in helping with Exeter, Torbay and South Hams Motor Clubs at many of their events. He is, to put it simply, an unsung hero of South West Motor Sport, out in all weathers and always with a smile on his face.

For various reasons most motor racing in North Devon takes place behind closed doors, however, if you would like to get up close to watch as Dave does, go to https://www.ndmc.org.uk

Simply join the club for a mere £10 per annum and then sign on and help out as a marshal.
