Winner Street came alive with festive cheer as traders and residents gathered for the annual Christmas Ramble, a community-led celebration showcasing the street’s growing collection of independent businesses.
Running from late afternoon into the evening, the event invited visitors to explore Winner Street through a festive trail, collecting stamps from participating shops along the way.
Completed maps were entered into a prize draw for a luxury hamper worth more than £100, packed with vouchers, gifts and products donated by local traders.
One of the winners, Garrey Ashton, who is new to Torbay, said he and his wife Claire had “absolutely loved” the evening and enjoyed meeting shopkeepers as they collected their stamps.
Shops stayed busy throughout the evening as families enjoyed carol singing, food stalls, children’s activities and the chance to meet Patrick the Pony, who proved a popular draw for festive photos.
One visitor shared online: “A big thank you to all the traders for organising such a wonderful Christmas event. Your hard work brought a great deal of festive cheer to Winner Street..”
The Christmas Ramble also had a strong fundraising focus, raising £325 to support local community initiatives. Organisers praised the work of the traders’ committee, volunteers and performers, with the event standing as a clear example of how independent high streets can come together to create something special at Christmas.
