Paignton RBL leads VE Day 80 celebrations with music and tributes

Concerts, memorials, and street parties mark 80 years since Victory in Europe Day in Paignton

The Paignton branch of the Royal British Legion led the way as the town celebrated the 80th anniversary of Victory in  Europe Day.

A VE 80 concert was held at St George's Church at Goodrington where those in attendance could come together to remember the momentous events of May 8, 1945.

The Goodrington memory cafe was the venue for another VE Day celebration event to mark the historic occasion.

A more formal memorial and tribute service was held by the RBL complete with its standard at the Paignton war memorial.

Branch members also gave a VE 80 talk about the Legion to members of the U3A.

And last but not least they supplied the refreshments including a large presentation cake for a VE Day 80 afternoon indoor street party at Whitley Court.
