Clear Sky Publishing has officially launched its new business-to-business magazine, Torbay Tomorrow.
This premier publication furthers Clear Sky Publishing’s mission to celebrate Torbay and highlight the achievements and developments of its business community.
The official launch event took place yesterday, Tuesday, 25 March, at Otto restaurant overlooking Torquay Harbour. Torbay business leaders and supporters of Clear Sky Publishing gathered to celebrate the launch and pick up the first copies of Torbay Tomorrow.
As a concept, "tomorrow" represents education, science, high-tech industries, innovation, invention, sustainability, net zero, investment, expansion, development, and progress—key themes that Torbay Tomorrow will cover.
The magazine is a minimum 68-page publication and will be distributed to businesses across the Torbay area.
Carolyn Custerson, CEO of the English Riviera BID Company, spoke at the event about Torbay’s strong position in the tourism industry, particularly following the £500,000 compensation received from South West Water after last year’s cryptosporidium outbreak in Brixham, which resulted in £40 million in lost bookings.
The grant has increased the English Riviera BID Company’s destination marketing budget to £1m, funding two national television advertisements currently airing in the Midlands.
Ms Custerson said: "When you look at other coastal resorts, Torbay is in such a great position. Tourism is in our DNA—it’s the biggest employer from Babbacombe to Brixham after the health service. We are the UK’s major resort and premier destination. No other destination in the UK has delivered five new hotels in 10 years. Many envy the pace of regeneration we are now managing to deliver."
"Our current destination marketing campaign is probably the most exciting one we’ve ever done—it’s certainly the biggest investment we’ve ever made. Without the BID, we wouldn’t have been able to match-fund the South West Water grant. It shows the power of working as a business improvement district."
Jim Parker, editor of Torbay Tomorrow and Torbay Weekly, said: "I think you all probably know what I think of Torbay—just look out the window to see what a superb place it is to live, work, visit, and invest in. How lucky we are to call it home.
“The timing and venue for the launch of Torbay Tomorrow could not be better. The magazine’s content is exactly what it says on the cover—Torbay and its future. It follows the ethos of Torbay Weekly and Torbay Today: inspiring people doing inspiring things.
“With the new-look Strand, £70m plans for a four-star hotel on the Debenhams site, ARC Marine moving into the former Living Coasts and interest in the Pavilion, tomorrow is shaping up well. We wanted to capture that while sharing your success stories and role in this new future.”
Chris Coward, founder and managing director of Clear Sky Publishing, said: "We're really pleased to extend our positive news doctrine and philosophy to the business sector. I am delighted that it has been so well received."
