Dreamy Drogo in Drewsteignton

Stephen Coombes visits the magnificent Castle Drogo

Our beautiful and historic home county of Devon is decorated with many fabulous buildings, old and new, and Torbay Weekly snapper Stephen Coombes took his keen eye to the gardens of Castle Drogo near Drewsteignton on the fringes of Dartmoor.
Castle Drogo, built between 1911 and 1930, is described as a mixed-revivalist country house, which basically means echoing the style of a previous architectural era that has fallen into disuse.
The castle was given to the National Trust in 1974 and the magnificent gardens are listed on the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
As you can see from these images, both the castle and gardens are a national treasure.
