A Paignton care home resident has enjoyed a holiday to Blackpool, visiting some of the resort’s best-known attractions and exploring towns along the Fylde Coast.

Mark Parish, who is supported at Warwick House in Paignton, travelled to Blackpool with the care home’s deputy manager, David.

During the trip, Mark visited SEA LIFE Blackpool and Madame Tussauds, as well as spending time at Stanley Park.

The pair also travelled outside Blackpool, visiting Fleetwood and Cleveleys.

A trip to Fleetwood Market was also detailed as a highlight of the holiday.

Mark also attended an evening of entertainment at the Flying Handbag, a Blackpool venue known for its drag shows.

David, deputy manager at Warwick House, said Mark particularly enjoyed the attractions and entertainment.

“Mark really enjoys his trips away and Blackpool was a great choice because there is so much there that appeals to him,” he said.

“He particularly likes attractions such as Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE, but we also made the most of being in the area with visits to Fleetwood and Cleveleys.

“Fleetwood Market was a real hit, and he absolutely loved the entertainment at the Flying Handbag.”

He added: “Trips like this are about much more than simply having a holiday, they give the people we support opportunities to make choices, enjoy their interests, experience different places and create some brilliant memories.”

Warwick House is a 24-hour residential home in Paignton supporting up to six adults with autism, learning disabilities and mental health needs.

The home is part of Salutem Care and Education, which provides care, support and education services for children and adults with complex needs.

John Godden, chief executive of Salutem Care and Education, said: “Supporting people to live fulfilling lives means recognising what matters to them as individuals and helping make those experiences possible.

“Mark’s Blackpool adventure is a wonderful example of that. He was able to enjoy the attractions and entertainment he loves, explore somewhere different and, most importantly, have a fantastic holiday.”

The organisation said its services support people to take part in activities and experiences based on their individual interests and preferences.
