Torquay Voiceover Artist Champions Small Businesses After Building National Client Base

A Torquay creative entrepreneur is backing UK Small Business Week after growing a successful voiceover and content creation business from his home studio, working with brands across the country.
A Torquay-based voiceover artist is lending his support to UK Small Business Week after building a thriving creative business helping brands connect with audiences through authentic voice and video content.
James Brown, known professionally as the “Voiceover With Soul”, has joined celebrations for UK Small Business Week, a nationwide initiative recognising the contribution independent businesses make to local communities and the wider economy.
Working from his home studio in Torquay, James provides professional voiceover services for businesses across the UK and has recently expanded into creating user-generated content (UGC) style video adverts, a fast-growing area of digital marketing.
His work focuses on helping brands communicate in a more natural and relatable way, with a conversational style that appeals to modern audiences.
James said smaller creative businesses are often able to offer a level of flexibility and personal service that larger agencies cannot match.
“People want authenticity now,” he said.
“They want content and advertising that feels real rather than overly polished or corporate.”
Alongside traditional voiceover projects, James has seen growing demand from businesses looking to reach customers through social media platforms using UGC-style video content.
“UGC video content has become a huge part of the business this year,” he said.
“Brands are looking for creators who can produce natural, engaging content that audiences actually want to watch.”
James believes small businesses play a vital role in driving innovation, creativity and local economic growth.
“As a small business owner, you genuinely care about every client and every project,” he said.
“You build relationships rather than just processing work.”
UK Small Business Week was launched by entrepreneur Nigel Botterill and is backed by Entrepreneurs Circle. The campaign aims to highlight the achievements of small businesses and the important role they play in communities across the UK.
Nigel Botterill said: “Small businesses are often built around people turning their skills, creativity and expertise into something meaningful.
“UK Small Business Week is about recognising those businesses and celebrating the contribution they make to communities and the wider economy.”
The week-long initiative runs from 1 to 7 June and includes events, social media campaigns and activities designed to celebrate entrepreneurship and encourage support for independent businesses.
For James, the campaign reflects the importance of the UK's small business community and the opportunities available to people willing to turn their skills into a business.
From a home studio in Torbay to working with clients nationwide, he says his journey demonstrates how creative businesses can flourish while remaining rooted in their local community.
