Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust governor Alison Ramon is encouraging people to attend this year’s annual members meeting, which provides an opportunity to celebrate and reflect upon the organisation’s achievements of the past year, and its plans for the future.
This year’s event takes place on Thursday September 25 betwee 4pm and 6pm in the TREC centre, Torbay Hospital,
Following the recent publication of the 10 Year Health Plan, which places a strong emphasis on preventing ill-health and using technology to support people to manage their health and wellbeing, the focus of this year’s meeting will be the launch of our new electronic patient record in Torbay and South Devon next spring.
The new single electronic patient record will transform the way care is provided across Devon’s acute hospitals and community sites. The One Devon EPR, Epic, will enable staff to access patients’ health and care information quickly and securely to give them more time to deliver higher quality and safer care.
For patients, this will mean they don’t have to remember their medical history or repeat the same information as it will help simplify the way their patient records and letters are kept and distributed safely, securely, and efficiently, making their care journey more joined-up.
A new MY CARE patient portal will also allow people to access information through their computer, phone or tablet. Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Adel Jones and her team will present an overview of Epic, how it will work and what it means for people in Torbay and South Devon.
Alison said: “Our annual members meeting is a great opportunity for you to meet governors, executives and staff and to find out what has been happening in your Trust during the past year and what is planned for the future.
“In addition to a review of our financial position we can tell you all about the current redevelopment of Torbay Hospital’s emergency department and other exciting initiatives across the whole Trust.
“There will also be opportunities to ask questions so please come along and bring friends and family. You don’t have to be a Trust member to attend but if you are not already, please do become a member.”
The annual members’ meeting is free to attend, and to reserve a place contacting the Foundation Trust Office or calling 01803 655406.
Anyone who is unable to attend can watch the live stream.
