Torbay's famous Patrick the Pony is in line for a piece of Christmas TV stardom.

The self-proclaimed 'Mayor of Cockington' has been invited to go on Love Your Weekend with the legendary Alan Titchmarsh.

The programme airs on Sunday December 22 on ITV1 at 9.30am. It's Alan's Christmas Special so Patrick will be taking his place alongside some celebrity guests.

Kirk Petrakis, Patrick’s owner, grew up watching Alan Titchmarsh on TV with his Granny Dot, who was a big fan and learnt many useful gardening tips from his shows.

Patrick will be wearing his Mayor's uniform and gold chain of office to appear on the programme.

Patrick is a miniature Shetland Pony. He was born on St Patrick’s Day, hence his name and is six years old.

He was voted The Mayor of Cockington in July 2022 after hundreds of people signed an online petition. He made history by becoming the first UK pony Mayor of a village.

As part of Patrick’s Mayoral duties he has opened the Devon County Show with The Lord Mayor of Exeter and Celebrity Chef Michael Caines. He was also one of the judges at The Totnes Show.

Patrick is also known for being a 'therapy' pony and will be working alongside Mindmaps Wellbeing to encourage people to open up and share their story to support others and give hope to those that need it.

Patrick is also the official Mascot for The War Horse Memorial, which is The Animal Purple Poppy Fund, raising money for animal charities.
