Powderham Castle's Christmas at the Castle returns this winter with a festive event featuring a Christmas Light Walk, The Castle Experience, and visits to Father Christmas, with presale tickets available from this Friday

Presale tickets for Powderham Castle's Christmas at the Castle open this Friday, 4 September, giving visitors first access ahead of general sale.

The festive event itself returns to the castle grounds from Sunday 29 November to Wednesday 30 December, running every evening from 4.30pm to 8.30pm, with last entry at 7.30pm. It will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.

What's on

At the centre of the event is the Christmas Light Walk, a lit route through the grounds, along the lakeside and past the illuminated castle facade, with food, drink and entertainment along the way.

From there, visitors can build their evening as they choose. The Castle Experience opens up one of the oldest family homes in the country, decorated for Christmas with lit trees and laid fires. In the Great Barn, children can visit Father Christmas and his elves at The Grotto, with a photograph included.

New for 2026 is the Festive Marquee, offering undercover seating with clear panels looking out over the castle, alongside a line-up of local food and drink traders.

Elsewhere in the grounds, visitors can take a turn on the Ferris wheel for views over the lit-up castle, warm up at the Hot Chocolate Hut, toast marshmallows, or enjoy mulled wine from the outdoor bar.

How to get tickets

Presale opens on Friday 4 September, with visitors encouraged to sign up in advance for first access at christmasatpowderham.co.uk, ahead of general sale.

Powderham Castle, the ancestral seat of the Earls of Devon, has been home to the same family for more than 700 years.
